Blackboard Weekend Lunches

The Bistro is open Saturday and Sunday from  11.30am – 2pm  for our Blackboard Weekend Lunches

Menus start from $39 for two courses and with four choices per course, there’s a variety of dishes to please the most discerning diners!

The menu changes weekly delivering different and delicious dishes every time. It is created by our culinary queen and chef de cuisine, Emma Davies, who sources the best and freshest local produce highlighting the best of the season.

Entrée

Citrus cured Ora King salmon with toasted rye crumb and crème fraiche

Niçoise salad with vincotto and lemon dressing

Calamari, chickpeas and chorizo sautéed with baby rocket

Roma tomato soup with basil cream

Main

Thyme Roasted Chicken Supreme

Goat’s Cheese Souffle with watercress, walnut and fennel salad and pear gastrique

Grilled sirloin on creamy spinach with hand cut shoestring fries and Café du Paris butter

Grilled market fish, toasted buckwheat, bell pepper, preserved lemon and Italian parsley

Dessert

Chocolate trifle with white, milk and dark chocolate

Apple and rhubarb crumble with cinnamon ice cream

French brie with toasted walnut bread and quince

*Please note that our Monday – Friday A la carte and Famous $20 Lunch are not available during weekend lunches.

When Rex Morgan isn’t in the Bistro kitchen, he’s in the TV studio – This year, you might have seen him on the popular TVNZ Show Whanau Living, where he demostrated his skills and shared some great recipes with the show’s presenter, Stacey Daniels.

This isn’t the first time Rex has been on screen, he’s been on a number of shows including Masterchef NZ.

T-Bone Steak – Famous Twenty Lunch for May

We’ve had calls, emails and comments asking us to bring back the tasty Twenty Dollar T-Bone steak, so following popular demand, the T-Bone steak returns as our Famous Twenty Dollar Lunch for the month of May. It is grilled, and served with cafe de Paris butter and watercress salad – oh so tasty and a perfect lunch on a chilly Wellington day.

If you haven’t yet tried this popular dish, get along to the Bistro this month. Available weekday lunchtimes for month of May. $20.00
