John Plimmer, the notable Wellingtonian, built and managed many early Wellington hotels. He was officially bestowed the title 'Father of Wellington'. Plimmer House, this delightful inner-city gothic cottage was originally built as a wedding gift from an upper class local groom to his bride in the late 1870s and came into the possession of the Plimmer family in 1911. As the home of Boulcott Street Bistro, for the past 20 years, this charming, Wellington landmark continues the Plimmer tradition of fine food and warm, personal hospitality.
